AsylumLaw.org's primary objective is helping lawyers around the world make the strongest case they can by increasing the number of asylum cases that are handled by volunteer attorneys by decreasing the amount of time each case requires, Increasing the number of successful asylum cases by increasing the number of supporting documents that are accessible—and therefore submitted—in each case, raising the quality of asylum applications by providing ready access to model applications prepared by leading experts, facilitating international cooperation among attorneys handling asylum cases from the same countries of origin, educating novice asylum attorneys on the nuances of particular cases.

The Immigration Advocates Network (IAN) is a collaborative effort of leading immigrants' rights organizations (*) designed to increase access to justice for low-income immigrants and strengthen the capacity of organizations serving them. IAN promotes more effective and efficient communication, collaboration, and services among immigration advocates and organizations by providing free, easily accessible and comprehensive online resources and tools. The Network does not provide legal referrals or direct legal services.

To register to access the password-protected areas of the Nonprofit Resource Center you must work as an advocate, organizer or service provider at a nonprofit organization or be a member of specific immigrants' rights organizations. You must affirm that you do not work for the United States government (Federal Public Defenders are not subject to this limitation) and that you will not use the tools or information available on the Immigration Advocates Network website for purposes other than to protect and promote the rights of immigrants in the United States.
If you are a private attorney, you should instead register for the Immigration Advocates Network's Pro Bono Resource Center. You must either represent a low-income immigrant on a pro bono basis or be willing to take a pro bono immigration case in the next six (6) months and affirm that you do not work for the United States government and that you will not use the tools or information available on the Immigration Advocates Network website for purposes other than to protect and promote the rights of immigrants in the United States.

The International Refugee Law Blog was created by passionate members of the ABA Section of International Law, Committee on International Refugee Law. The views expressed herein are those of individual contributors and not those of the American Bar Association or the Section of International Law. Our Committee members are concerned with the fundamental human rights of refugees around the world. International, regional and national laws give refugees a wide range of civil, political, social, economic and cultural rights, from non-refoulement (the right not to be returned to a country where they fear persecution), to freedom from discrimination, to the right to work. In practice, however, refugees rarely are able to assert these rights.
The Committee seeks to educate its members and the public about these issues, to foster critical discussion toward a greater realization of refugee rights, and to stimulate legal and policy advocacy on behalf of refugees worldwide.
